Agency on Aging

14,000 meals to the elderly citizens in our local area are provided by State and federal grants, Turner County funding, City of Ashburn funding, citizen donations, and support from the Southeast Georgia Regional Development Center in Waycross. Ashburn administers this program which includes the “meals on wheels” for shut-ins, as well as serving daily at the Housing Authority Elderly Village complex. Jennifer Couch is the Site Director of the program, and coordinates the daily activities. The City contracts with the County to provide transportation, and local volunteers and Green Thumb workers assist Mrs. Couch with the food distribution.
